English Literature: Medieval Literature

This is a research guide for resources in English Literature.

   The Medieval Period lasted from 455 CE to 1485 CE, and it is characterized by the following:

  • the Old English/Anglo Saxon Period [also called the Dark Ages] (455 - 1485 CE),
  • the Middle English Period (1066 - 1450 CE), and 
  • the High/Late Medieval Period (1200 - 1485 CE).
