Speed Library offers over 50 databases with indexed and full-text research on a wide array of subjects, many from scholarly, peer-reviewed journals. To search for articles click on a database and enter your search terms. (MC login required off campus)

Academic Search Complete This link opens in a new window
An online database that indexes roughly 4,500 publications, providing full-text access to more than 3,000 journals and magazines. Sources include scholarly journals, news magazines and select newspaper articles. Dates of coverage vary according to title.
CINAHL Plus with Full Text This link opens in a new window
CINAHL provides citations, abstracts and comprehensive indexing of journals in nursing, allied health, with full-text articles from over 300 journals. Includes articles on health services administration, health facilities, and personnel management. Coverage from 1982 to date.
Communication Source This link opens in a new window
Includes rigorous curation and indexing of open access (OA) journals, which has resulted in a growing collection of 387 active global OA journals. Once validated and certified for inclusion, these OA journals are treated with high-quality subject indexing and sophisticated, precise/accurate full-text linking.  
MEDLINE This link opens in a new window
MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH indexing to search citations from over 5,600 current biomedical journals.

Includes a collection of 452 peer-reviewed, full-text journals. Coverage includes journals in business (organizational studies, organizational behavior, etc.), communication/media, criminology, education, health sciences, nursing, political science, psychology, sociology, anthropology, economics, engineering, gender studies, geography, history, linguistics, philosophy, and social work

Large sociology research database that includes coverage of all related subject areas such as abortion, anthropology, criminology, criminal justice, cultural sociology, demography, economic development, ethnic & racial studies, gender studies, marriage & family, politics, religion, rural sociology, social psychology, social structure, social work, sociological theory, sociology of education, substance abuse, urban studies, violence, welfare, and others. This database has full text journal entries that date back to 1895 as well as books, monographs, and conference papers.

Locating Specific Journals

You can search Speed Library's entire database collection for a specific journal title with Journal Finder. To access electronic journals, just choose the link. Off campus users will be prompted to log in.

Have an article citation? Search first for the journal title, then the year, volume, issue and page numbers. Journal results in Journal Finder display the years covered.

Still can't find what you're looking for? Ask us to help, or order an article through Interlibrary Loan.

Interlibrary Loan

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service for current MC students and faculty. EBSCO databases have integrated ILL request forms included in Results lists for citations that don't include full-text. Use the article request form for items from other sources. Limit of 5 open requests at a time.
