In cooperation with the Mississippi Baptist Convention Board (MBCB), the Historical Commission has contracted for a revision and update to A History of Mississippi Baptists written by Dr. R. A. McLemore and published in 1971. Dr. Bob Rogers, former Mississippi Baptist pastor and current chaplain at Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, is writing the new history. Written in a narrative style, the book will have a broad appeal to all Mississippi Baptists who want to know about their spiritual roots, as well as, Mississippians in general.
A copy of the updated A History of Mississippi Baptists will be sent to every MBC church in the state, at no cost to the church. A digital copy of the book will be available for download also at no cost, and individuals will be able to order a physical copy of the book for themselves. Specific information for orders will be available closer to the publication date.
