To locate specific formats in the library catalog it is necessary to use the limit function of the library catalog. Select a material type from the drop down menu. Types include music cd, score, dvd, or video.
The Library Catalog (MICAL) lists everything owned or licensed by the MC libraries. The catalog reflects the holdings of the Leland Speed Library, Mississippi College School of Law, and the Learning Resouces Center. Holdings include books, print journals, musical scores, videos, sound recordings, as well as materials in electronic format.
Books for music may be located in the reference room or in the stack area. Music scores, sound recordings or videos are located in the Learning Resources Center.

Music publishers and record labels of use varying words or languages to describe a piece of music by a composer. Libraries standarized music titles by using uniform titles. Uniform titles uniquely identify works by a composer.
As a general rule, music searches should start with an author search since many music titles use generic terms such as "symphony". After searching by author, select the "limit this search" box at the top of the screen and enter title information. Limiting by material type will enable you to choose either score or music cd.
